Valve Data and General Information CD-ROM (2nd Edition)

The original Valve Data CD-ROM had been available for three years, and was beginning to show its age when compared to the Vintage Radio Service Data CD-ROMs. Also, I had obtained considerably more useful information.Valve Data CD-ROM

Rather than trying to update the original CD-ROM, I decided to start again from scratch. This time the data is scanned at higher resolution and presented in Adobe Acrobat format for ease of viewing and printing.

The CD-ROM contains a good selection of manufacturers and third-party valve and early semicoductor data. The data is presented as the original books, with bookmarks to the individual data sheets for ease of navigation. Equivalents books are also provided to enable you to find an alternative device for your set, or to work out what that military coded valve really is.

If you are looking up valve data it is likely that sooner or later you will want to test valves. To aid this I have included operating instructions and valve charts for the popular valve testers (Avo, Mullard and Taylor).

The CD-ROM also contains a wealth of interesting and useful servicing information from period publications, as well as historical, design and general information of interest to vintage radio collectors.

Please see the full contents list to see what's included.

All data and documents are scanned at a high resolution (generally 300 or 400 DPI), and stored in Adobe Acrobat format. They may be printed as required for workshop use. With a standard inkjet printer, the print quality is equivalent to a good photocopy.

A copy of Acrobat Reader for Windows 98/NT4/ME/2000/XP is included.

The CD-ROM is designed and tested on Windows systems. Although it should work OK on other operating systems, successful operation on anything other than Windows 98 or later cannot be guaranteed. A reasonably modern CD-ROM drive is needed to read CD-R disks reliably.

The price of the CD-ROM is just £15, or you may order all four of my CD-ROMs together for £50. These prices include postage and packing to anywhere in the world. An on-line PayPal ordering service is available.

I am very impressed with it; there must be at least a shelf's worth of data books on there. The AVO valve tester tables are really useful as I have the original (Mk 0) model, and its manual only deals with older valves. As a pre-war Murphy enthusiast, the Mazda book is good too, very "cosy" looking compared with the contemporary Philips literature, but they did produce some excellent devices. - Leon C, UK.
